The range of procedures means that there is a wide range of potential operative times depending on the exact procedure. This could range from a one hour procedure through to a three to three and a half hour procedure.
For most operations, the initial one to two weeks is the key period of recovery when we would normally advise time off work. However, it takes six weeks normally until exercise can begin again and many months before any post surgical swelling has settled down and you can perceive and assess your final result.
Normally we would advise waiting until six weeks after the surgery.
Complications range from those associated with any operation such as bleeding, infection, wound healing delay, asymmetry and fluid build up through to breast implant specific complications that are similar to those that existed at the first breast implant operation.
